EBRD to attract up to 23 billion tenge to East Kazakhstan region

The total investment portfolio of East Kazakhstan region in the work with the EBRD is 101 projects for 298 billion tenge.
In Astana within the 31st plenary session of the Council of Foreign Investors, Governor of East Kazakhstan region Danial Akhmetov met with President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development Sir Suma Chakrabarti, the press service of the Governor of EKR reports.

At the meeting, Akhmerov and Chakrabarti singed two agreements on funding the construction of a solid waste treatment plant in Ust-Kamenogorsk and Semey. The total amount of investment was 23.5 billion tenge. The joint project of the Governor’s Office and the Bank will enable a complex approach toward solid waste treatment. The production cycle includes waste collection, transportation, treatment and disposal.

The project includes the following key components: the construction of a complex to mechanical and biological treatment of solid waste; the construction of a new sanitary polygon; the closure of the existing polygon; purchasing specialized equipment and vehicles.

To prepare a technical and economic survey and to maintain the project, experienced specialists of consulting companies will be attracted.

Also, the meeting discussed the implementation of the 10 agreements and contracts on development of the infrastructure of the region for 46.5 billion tenge. At the same time, the sides agreed to sign a credit agreement on modernization of a public transport in Ust-Kamenogorsk for 5.4 billion tenge in June, 2018.

Within the project, it is planned to buy 85 passenger busses for leasing, that correspond to the international quality standards and comfortability. At the moment, the Governor’s Office and the EBRD have signed 12 agreements and contracts for the total sum of 70 billion tenge.
