Bakytzhan Sagintayev discusses technological modernization of oil and gas sector with the Vice President of Chevron

Today, within the framework of the forthcoming 30th meeting of the Foreign InvestorsИ Council in Astana, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan Bakytzhan Sagintayev met with the Executive Vice President of Chevron James Johnson on cooperation in the oil and gas production sector.

Kazakhstan Today - Today, within the framework of the forthcoming 30th meeting of the Foreign InvestorsИ Council in Astana, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan Bakytzhan Sagintayev met with the Executive Vice President of Chevron James Johnson on cooperation in the oil and gas production sector.

During the meeting, the project of expansion of the Tengiz field was discussed. The parties noted that this project will have a positive multiplier effect both for the stable development of the economy of Kazakhstan and for all partners of TCO.

Particular attention was paid to the technological modernization of the oil and gas sector in the framework of the implementation of the instructions of the Head of State, enshrined in the Adress "The Third Modernization of Kazakhstan: Global Competitiveness".

At the same time, the parties discussed the EXPO-2017 exhibition in Astana.

Chevron owns a 50% stake in Tengizchevroil LLP (TCO), which is developing the Tengiz field in the West of Kazakhstan.

TCO has launched the Wellhead Pressure Management Project / Future Growth Project (WPMP/FGP), which envisages the construction of a new oil refinery, with a capacity of 12 million tons per year and re-injection facilities for crude gas with a capacity of 9.4 billion m3/year.

Within the framework of the WPMP/FGP it is planned to create more than 20 thousand jobs in Kazakhstan, measures for education and training of personnel are planned, and about 700 permanent workplaces will be created during operation.
