Government approves the Food Belt Development Roadmap of Astana

The analysis of the production potential of all districts of Akmola region and four nearby districts of the Karaganda region have been carried out with a division into three zones. The first zone is in a radius of 100 km, the second - 200 and the third - 300 km.

The Roadmap for improving the food belt of the capital was developed in accordance with the instructions of the Head of State of April 2017. First Vice Minister of Agriculture Kairat Aituganov reported about it at the meeting of the Government chaired by the Prime Minister Bakytzhan Sagintayev.

According to the Ministry of Agriculture, the city's own production covers the need of the population of Astana for flour, pasta, bread and cereals. In order to provide domestic foodstuffs, the residents of the capital were tasked with creating the necessary conditions in the production zone, ensuring stable supplies of products from other regions of the country and developing the trade infrastructure of the capital.

The analysis of the production potential of all districts of Akmola region and four nearby districts of the Karaganda region have been carried out with a division into three zones. The first zone is in a radius of 100 km, the second - 200 and the third - 300 km.

The necessary structure of cultivated areas for 2018 is determined in the Roadmap for the two akimats of the regions taking into account the diversification. There is a potential for areas within a radius of 300 km to increase the production of mutton to 60% of the demand. A sausage, milk processed, butter, cheese and cottage cheese up to 50% of the need. There are 24 enterprises operating on meat processing with a total capacity of 28 thousand tons and a load of 72%. At 20 mills, the load is now 55% with a processing capacity of 90 thousand tons of milk per year. There are also specific indicators for increasing production volumes.

As the first vice minister noted, to stimulate the surrender of raw materials to processing enterprises, work continues to unite small and medium farms in agricultural cooperatives.

In order to stimulate food supplies to Astana, including missing food from other regions of Kazakhstan, the status of the participant of the Astana city's production line will be established at the legislative level, which will provide certain benefits to agricultural producers.

To implement the third task of expanding the trade infrastructure in Astana, 50 modular shopping pavilions will be put into operation by the end of the year. For this purpose the akimat of the capital allocated land and attracted investments of 90 million tenge within the program "Development of street trade."

"In general, the implementation of the Roadmap will provide the population of Astana with the necessary amount of food in a parity 'price-quality' ratio," K. Aituganov concluded.

According to the Committee on Statistics of the Ministry of National Economy, as of June 1, 1002.8 thousand people live on the territory of Astana. To meet the needs of this population in accordance with minimum standards of food consumption, about 617.2 thousand tons of basic food products are needed.
