NATO refused to destroy poppy crops in Afghanistan

The North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) has resolutely rejected Russia's appeal to destroy poppy crops in Afghanistan, the agency reports citing RIA RosBusinessConsulting (RBC).

Almaty. March 25. Kazakhstan Today - The North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) has resolutely rejected Russia's appeal to destroy poppy crops in Afghanistan, the agency reports citing RIA RosBusinessConsulting (RBC).

According to the representatives of the North Atlantic Treay Organization, Moscow is able to contribute to struggle against drug business carried out by the representatives of the extremist movement Taliban.

"We cannot admit that people of one of the poorest countries of the world remain without a source of income and do not receive anything in exchange," the NATO representative James Appaturay said. At the same time, NATO representatives understand Russia's concern about growth of drug trafficking from Afghanistan.

Earlier, the chair of the Federal Agency of the Russian Federation for Control over Drug Trafficking, Victor Ivanov, suggested the NATO to create "antinarcotics coalition" for struggle against distribution of the Afghani heroin.
