Almaty. 21 April. Kazakhstan Today - The conference was attended by members of the Presidential National Commission for Women and Family and Demographic Policy, representatives of central and local executive state bodies, non-governmental and international organizations, religious associations, student youth, and experts.

The State Secretary emphasized that the Head of the State in his Address to the Nation " KazakhstanИs Third Modernization: Global Competitiveness" set the task of carrying out work to prevent the propaganda of religious extremism and called for the active involvement of non-governmental sector and religious associations in this activity.

To date, there are 4 million young people in Kazakhstan. According to the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Civil Society, 79.6% of young people hold religious views. And among them, the share of actively professing religion is 9.9%.

Since 2013, the Presidential National Commission for Women and Family and Demographic Policy jointly with the authorized body for religious affairs in 10 regions of the country is implementing "Woman and Religion" project.

The Secretary of State noted that in the face of growing challenges and threats to the globalizing world, the main task of secular Kazakhstan is a well thought out and effective state policy in the field of combating religious extremism.

The main source of radicalization of believers is the Internet. Thus, in the first quarter of this year, more than 100,000 facts of spreading the ideas of terrorism and extremism were found and neutralized in the Kazakh segment of the Internet. Thanks to the well-coordinated work of law enforcement bodies, only 315 cases of crimes containing signs of extremism and terrorism were registered in the first six months of last year alone. 12 extremist acts were prevented. The state systematically conducts preventive work among the populationИs different levels. Approximately 32% of followers of non-traditional religious trends are covered by targeted preventive measures.

Thanks to implementation of the current State Program to Counter Religious Extremism and Terrorism in Kazakhstan for 2013-2017, about 90% of the country's population is covered by prevention. 70 leaders and activists of the Salafi communities have succeeded in restoring a loyal attitude to the values ??of KazakhstanИs society. 91 citizens of Kazakhstan were kept from traveling abroad to take part in combat operations together with terrorists. 123 people were convicted for terrorist and religious-extremist crimes.

Gulshara Abdykalikova made it clear that the problem number one at present is the need for cultivating the immunity of young people and women for effect of propaganda of religious extremist organizations.

At the end of the event, the State Secretary outlined a number of specific tasks to counter religious extremism among women and youth.
