The President Nursultan Nazarbayev met with Foreign Ministers of SCO Member States

Lavrov, Tajikistan - S.Aslov, Uzbekistan - A.Kamilov, Secretary General of the SCO- R.Alimov, Director Executive Committee of the SCO Regional Antiterrorist Structure- E.Sysoev, Assistant to the President of Kazakhstan on International issues N.Onzhanov, the press service of Akorda reported.

In the welcoming speech, the Head of State noted the importance of the meeting of foreign ministers of the SCO member states on the eve of the organization's summit in Astana.

"Chairing in the SCO, we attach great importance to the upcoming summit in June this year. Our chairmanship in the organization is taking place against a backdrop of complex processes in the region and the world," the President of Kazakhstan said.

Nursultan Nazarbayev noted a number of issues that are on the agenda of the SCO. Among them: the intensification of work on the approval of the Concept of Cooperation of the Organization in the Field of Environmental Protection, the signing of the SCO Convention on Counteracting Extremism and the adoption of a statement on this issue, as well as the Anti-Drug Strategy of the member states of the organization.

"Economic and cultural-humanitarian cooperation within the SCO is of great importance. One more important issue on the agenda of the forthcoming summit is the adoption of a decision on the completion of the procedure for admission of India and Pakistan to full members of the SCO. It is also expected to adopt the Astana Declaration, where we will define our plans for the future," the Head of State said.
