"The population of Astana is increasing annually by 40-50 thousand people. Thousands of people are moving to suburban areas near Astana," said the head of state, Nursultan Nazarbayev, during the meeting on further development of Astana, the Presidential press service informed in Twitter.
He noted that in the 20 settlements created only 11% of the jobs of the economically active population.
"Today 55 food companies do not work in Karaganda region, 43 - in Akmola region and 1 - in Astana. Food imports to the capital for the last three years amounted to more than $ 200 million," said the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
