Film 'Aika' by Sergey Dvortsevoy longlisted for Oscar

The film is submitted in the nominated for 'Best Foreign Lnaguage Film'.
Kazakhstan's film directed by Sergey Dvortsevoy is longlisted for Oscar, the official website reports.

In total, films of 87 world states are submitted for consideration in this nomination.

Such films as 'Khrustal' (Crystal) by Belarussian director Darya Zhuk, 'Sobibor' by Konstantin, 'Donbass' by Ukrainian director Sergey Loznitsy and so on are also nominated for 'Best Foreign Language Film'.

'Aika' reveals the story of a young immigrant from Kyrgyzstan who illegally works in Moscow, her personal growth, motherhood that she lost and then finds. Earlier, the film was screened within the framework of the International Film Festival in Almaty.

Samal Yeslyamova was the best actress of the 71st Cannes Film Festival, who played the main role in the film.

The 91st Oscars will be held on February 24, 2019, in Hollywood, it will be broadcast live in more than 225 states.
