'If earlier it was heroin, now it is salt for taking a bath' experts on widely spread drugs in Almaty

Salt for taking a bath includes syntatic amphetamines.
Out of 1960 Almaty drug addicts who are registered in the Centre, 24 of them used psychoactive substances. It was said by Director of the Centre of Mental Health in Almaty Sapar Rakhmensheev at the site of the Regional Communications Service.

The speaker said that the drug treatment centre has the ward to conduct examinations in which the amount of drugs intaken by the patient is defined.

So, this year over six months 22 113 people have been treated in the Centre. The examination revealed that 60% of them are healthy, others have various degrees of dependence. The person who used drugs becomes mentally retarded. Our goal is to heal their minds and return them human qualities," said the Director of the Centre.


Sapar Rakhmensheev named the most widely spread drug substances among Almaty citizens.

I have been working in this field for more than 20 years. In late 1990s and early 2000s, the most spread drug substance among the youth was heroin, it was replaced with opiate drugs, which has another name - khanka. Among the patients, many fear of needles. Now, smoke mixtures JWH are spread among patients, which are syntactic drugs. It is dangerous, as the consequences after the use of that drug can damage the state of health. The person that once has used the drug has physical changes, the brain deteriorates instantly. People who use such a drug suffer insomnia, and from withdrawal. The drug includes various substances, even impurities for cars. Now, there are many types of salt for taking a bath, which are also are included into drugs, they include syntactic amphetamines. As for now 1960 drug addicts are registered, of whom, 24 have used psychoactive substances," said the speaker.
