Kazakh cosmonaut wishes to head a space scientific laboratory

The Kazakh cosmonaut, Aidyn Aimbetov, wants to do research for the develop if space and fundamental science.
Kazakh cosmonaut, People’s Hero of Kazakhstan, Major General of the Air Force of Kazakhstan Aidyn Aimbetov told about his further activity within his work. On the sidelines of the solemn event devoted to International Cosmonautics Day.

Answering to the question whether he would agree to head a space colony, Aigyn Aimbetov answered that he would like to head a scientific expedition.

Let’s imagine (to head) not a colony, but a scientific laboratory. That could be wonderful to do research with the team of our young, Kazakhstan scientists for the development of space and fundamental science," he said.


Aimetov also noted that after the flight to outer space, most of all he remembers "the beauty of our planet from outer space", and the most difficult thing in zero gravity to pass the adaptation period, when the whole body adapts to the new conditions of life.

According to Aidyn Aimbetov, he lives ordinary life, but believes that after the spaceflight the main thing is to not "to lose the head". He added that he would agree to flight to outer space for the second time with pleasure.

Aimbetov does not have space superstitions, but he follows the traditions, that belong to the first Soviet cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin and were created more than half a century ago.

There are traditions, one of them is to plant a tree, traditionally from the first flight to outer space. Yuri Gagarin created the tradition in 1961, and each cosmonaut plants a tree before the spaceflight. It is followed these days," he said.


Aidyn Aimbetov is a Kazakh consonant, the People’s Hero of Kazakhstan in 2015, General-Mayor of the Air Forces of Kazakhstan. In September, 2015, he performed a flight as Flight Engineer-2 of the manned transport spacecraft "Soyuz TMA-18M" to the International Space Stations. He is a member of the expedition EP-18 to the ISS. And retuned to the Earth on the manned transport spacecraft "Soyuz TMA-16M". The duration of the flight is 9 days 20 hours 13 minutes and 51 seconds.
