Kazakhstan to build a plant to generate electricity from cotton waste

According to foreign experts, 1 ha of cotton produces around 3 tons of cotton waste that can further generate 30-40 MW of electricity.

First Deputy Governor of the Turkestan region Kairat Nukenov held a meeting with a group of Turkish entrepreneurs led by Chairman of the Board of Biotrend energy Murat Aslan, the region's press service informs.

At the meeting, Kairat Nukenov got familiarized the delegation with the region's economic and investment potential and expressed willingness to establish close cooperation in a variety of fields.

"The revival and modernization of the city of Turkestan as a spiritual and cultural center of the Turkic world and Central Asian has already started. To this end, we have set big tasks. The Turkestan region and Turkey need to seize all options for enhancing mutually beneficial manufacturing, trade and economic and investment cooperation. Our region has a favorable investment climate, as well as the necessary mechanisms to stimulate and develop business, and entrepreneurship support actions. We are also ready to hear and support your suggestions relating to tourism development in our region," said the First Deputy Governor.

In turn, the Chairman of Biotrend energy noted that the company takes a leading position in processing agricultural products, and expressed the intention to invest in the Turkestan region, particularly a plant to generate electricity from cotton waste.

According to Turkish investors, 1 ha of cotton produces around 3 tons of cotton waste, that, in turn, generates 30-40 MW of electricity. In addition, the delegation's head sought support in terms of land and formalities.

Nukenov underlined that the investors would be received the support necessary from the Governor's Office.

Note, Energy Company Biotrend was set up in 2012 to generate clean energy meeting the international standards. As of today, the company employs over 200 qualified personnel.
