Turkey and Korea to construct a ring road in Almaty region

The construction of Big Almaty Ring Road (BAKAD) with a total amount of 467.9 million dollars will start in 2018 in Almaty region.

"Turkish and South Korean companies on Thursday signed a concession agreement to build the Big Almaty Ring Road (BAKAD) project in Kazakhstan," aa.com reports.

"The Turkish firms, Makyol Construction and Alsim Alarko, and South Korean companies -- Korean SK and Korea Expressway Corporation -- inked the agreement to bring the BAKAD project into action, said Olzhas Raev, the investment advisor at KazakhstanИs embassy in Seoul," says the report.

According to Raev, the construction will be given a start this year.

The total length of the road will be 66 kilometers (41 miles) and it will cross the Karasyam, Ile and Talgar districts of Almaty region.

7 intersections and 13 overpasses are planned to be constructed on the road.

As Raev says this project is among the most awaited and complex projects in the country. The project will also put an end to traffic jams in Almaty region.

As was earlier reported by the Ministry for Investments and Development, the project with a total cost of 150 billion tenges (467.9 million dollars) will be constructed by Turkish and Korean investors.
