Alina Raikova became a twice champion in biathlon of the Universiade-2017

Almaty. 31 January. Kazakhstan Today - Alina Raikova became a twice champion in biathlon of the Universiade-2017.

At the first competition day biathlonists at Alatau Cross Country Skiing and Biathlon Complex there was a heavy snow swapped by fog. Later at the beginning of the womenИs individual race the fog disappeared and athletes started. Galina Vishnevskaya, one of the leading skier, was the first who left the start. But she fall down at the first turn and broke her pole. Despite that Vishnevskaya came first to the shooting with good time result but the problem with her rifle appeared. As she fall down the rifle bead was full of snow she couldnИt aim for quite a long time. She cleaned the aim a couple of times and after that she began to shoot. That break appeared to a decisive one.

Another leader of the race, a current winner of the race Alina Raikova managed to run the race very confidently just made one misses at the second and third shootings. Russian and Ukraine biathlon athletes became main rivals of the athletes from Kazakhstan.

Fog appeared again on the trail as the competition was about to end but it made a favor for athletes from Kazakhstan. Both Raikova and Vishnevskaya managed to shoot at the final shooting successfully and their rivals had to shoot with zero visibility.

As result Alina Raikova showered the best time and became the one participants to run the race for less than one hour - 59 min 48 sec. Galina Vishnevskaya came the second and Nadia Belkina from Ukraine got a bronze medal.

"It was hard for me. At times I lost my self-control but the sense prevailed over my emotions and I managed to cope. It was hard as I failed a couple of time and it resulted on my results during all season. Practically nobody believed in me, just my family supported me and IИm thankful to them. I know I could do it. Every athlete has a moto and me as well. It seems my moto is a trivial one but I always say myself that there is nothing impossible and I proved it," - said Alina Raikova as she finished the race.

As for Galina Vishnevskaya she thanked her coaches as they didnИt allow her to give up after the first shooting.

"Coaches told me I should have won the race. We were preparing for the Universiade. The world championship is ahead and we are well preparing for it. My coaches helped a lot and after a fail at the first shooting I thought the race finished for me. But my coaches so much supported mr and I won a medal, - confessed Galina Vishnevskaya.

To add Alina Raikova won the first golden medal of the Winter Universiade in Almaty. Moreover the biathlonist defended her champion title having won it at the Universiade-2015.
