Shumenov's opponent in the title fight in Astana became known

The first and only light heavyweight and cruiseweight world champion from Kazakhstan will have a fight for the WBA belt.
Turkish Hizni Altunkaya (30-1, 17KOs) will be Baibut Shumenov’s (17-2, 11KOs) opponent, who is the first and only world champion in two weight limits from Kazakhstan, in the fight for the WBA (Regular) cruiseweight world champion belt, Vesti.kz reports.

The 34-year-old Kazakhstan boxer owned the belt, but he had to leave boxing after the trauma. Later, Shumenov announced his comeback to the sport and shared his wishes to become a world champion again. We note that Baibut owned the world titles in the two weight limits – light heavyweight and cruiseweight.

Now, Shumenov takes the second place in the ranking of the World Boxing Association (WBA), lagging behind from interim champion, French Armenian Arsen Gulamiryan (23-0, 15KOs), whom coach is Abel Sanchez.

As for Altunkaya, he is the third in the WBA list. The Turkish boxer has almost spent the entire career in Germany. In 2011, he won over Italian Salvatore Aiello, who at time did not have losses in his record of 29-0, in a twelve-round fight for the title of interim WBF world champion. Also, Hizni owned the GBC intercontinental belt.

The fight of Sumenov and Altunkaya was held on July 7 in Astana. In addition, the capital of Kazakhstan will host another large-scale event in the professional boxing. A meeting of WBA Directorate will be held that is held twice a year.
