The final set of medals was contested at the Alatau Cross Country Skiing and Biathlon Complex.

The result of the race was determined by speed. Jouty managed to outrun Pantov and secured the victory. Yeryomin also overtook Pantov and came second. Pantov won the bronze medal as a result.

Almaty. 7 February. Kazakhstan Today - The final set of medals was contested at the Alatau Cross Country Skiing and Biathlon Complex. Baptiste Jouty from France became the Universiade champion in biathlon mass start.

February 7. MenИs biathlon. 15km mass start:

Baptiste Jouty (France) - 43:30.0 (2 penalty laps)

Roman Yeryomin (Kazakhstan) - 43:43.5 (5)

Anton Pantov (Kazakhstan) - 43:57.7 (2)

In the final competition, athletes competed for medals in menИs biathlon 15km mass start.

The race was intense and ended unexpectedly. From the very beginning, athletes from Russia, Kazakhstan and France competed for top three. Baptiste Jouty from France took the lead during the first lap of the race, until the second shooting round. However, one miss kicked out Jouty from the top three to the fourth place. Another French athlete, Mathieu Legrand, took the lead instead.

The next shooting round changed the positions of the athletes once again. Legrande missed two targets and consequently ended the race early. Anton Pantov from Kazakhstan took the lead. Roman Yeryomin and Baptiste Jouty followed him.

In the last shooting round, Pantov and Jouty each made one miss. Yeryomin missed twice. After completing the penalty lap, Pantov and Jouty remained leaders. Yeryomin was behind them.

The result of the race was determined by speed. Jouty managed to outrun Pantov and secured the victory. Yeryomin also overtook Pantov and came second. Pantov won the bronze medal as a result.

This gold is JoutyИs second at this Universiade. He took the first gold in the individual race, which was the first competition in biathlon.

In total, nine sets of medals were awarded in biathlon. Kazakhstan and Russia each won three gold medals; two went to French athletes and one to Ukraine.
