12:43 25.06.2007 Kazakhstan Majilis, maslikhat candidates' nomination began
Astana. June 25. Kazakhstan Today - Nomination of candidates to Majilis of the Parliament, elected by party lists, and maslikhat candidates began In Kazakhstan on Friday, the agency reports.

According to the schedule of the main activities of preparation and carrying out of extraordinary elections to Majilis approved by the Central Electoral Committee, registration of candidates will be prolonged till July 17. On July 18, pre-election campaign will begin and will end at 24.00 on August 16. The elections will take place on August 18.

The Central Election Commission reminded that "the right of nomination of Majilis candidates, elected by party lists, belongs to the political parties registered in due order. Inclusion in the party list the persons for election to Majilis deputies on the territory of the uniform national constituency is made by the majority of voices from the general number of members of the supreme body of political party. Political parties do not have the right to include in party lists the persons not being the members of the political party," the message of the Central Election Committee states.

The Majilis deputy can be elected a person who has reached 25 five years, having citizenship of the Republic Kazakhstan and has been permanently living on its territory for the last ten years.

Majilis of the Parliament of Kazakhstan consists of 77 deputies, 10 from whom were elected by party lists. According to the updated Constitution, the Chamber will consist of 107 deputies, 98 from whom will be elected by party lists on uniform national constituency on the basis of proportional electoral system, 9 deputies will be elected by the Assembly of People of Kazakhstan.
