19.1 million hectares to be sown during spring-field works

19.1 million hectares are planned to be sown this year in Kazakhstan during spring-field works. The Minister of Agriculture of Kazakhstan, Akylbek Kurishbaev, informed at the regional meeting of agricultural commodity producers in Kostanay, the agency reports.

"According to akimats' forecasts, 19.1 million hectares will be sown this year in the country. It is by 265 thousand hectares more than last year," A. Kurishbaev said.

"The areas under crops will be expanded due to priority grain crops. Grain will be sown on the area of 16.7 million hectares. It almost reaches the level of the last year. Olive crops will be sown on the area of 1.4 million hectares, which is by 16 % more than last year."
