A. Chubays to head CIS Electro Energy Council till 2009

Anatoly Chubays will remain on the post of the CIS chairman of Electro Energy Council for one term till 2009, the agency reports.

Dushanbe. October 17. Kazakhstan Today - Anatoly Chubays will remain on the post of the CIS chairman of Electro Energy Council for one term till 2009, the agency reports.

The decision on continuation of the powers of the chairman of the Russian Open Society UES of Russia on the post of the chairman of the Council accepted during the session of the CIS Electro Energy Council held in Dushanbe on October 11-12.

The chairmen of the bodies of electric power industry and the national power companies of the countries of the Commonwealth, observers and the representatives of the invited countries and the organizations took part in the session. The participants of the council considered 13 themes, thus, the issues of synchronous unification of power supply systems of the CIS countries and the Baltic with power supply systems of Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan took special place in the discussion, the chairman of the Russian Open Society UES of Russia emphasized.

The session participants considered draft agreements and concepts of formation of the unified electro power market of the CIS countries and the regulations on the order of development, coordination and approval of the uniform specifications and technical documentation on maintenance of parallel work of electro power systems of the countries of Commonwealth.

The next session of the Electro Energy Council will be held in Moscow in 2008.

The CIS Electro Energy Council was formed on February 14, 1992. Its primary goal is carrying out of the coordinated actions on maintenance of stable and reliable power supply of enterprises and population.

The chairman of the board of the Russian Open Society UES of Russia Anatoly Chubays has been the chairman of the CIS Electro Energy Council since 2000.
