Laying of first stone and welding of first seam of gas pipeline Kazakhstan - China took place

Almaty. July 10. Kazakhstan Today - The official ceremony devoted to the beginning of construction of gas pipeline Kazakhstan - China with participation of the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources of Kazakhstan Sauat Mynbayev took place in the area of 42 kilometers of highway Almaty - Kapchagay on Wednesday, the agency reports.

Welding of the first seams at the opening ceremony of construction of gas main Kazakhstan - China was carried out by experts of JSC KazStroiServise Company and corporation China Petroleum Pipeline Engineering Corporation in Kazakhstan LTD (CPPE). These companies are considered as potential contractors on realization of this project.

Kazakhstan - China will give a new impulse to development of not only gas branch, but also the economy of our country as a whole," Energy and Mineral Resources Minister noted.

The project provides for five stages of construction, the last of which is supposed to be finished in the beginning of 2012. "This gas main Kazakhstan - China is intended for transit delivery of up to 30 billion of cubic meters of gas. It is Central Asian gas delivered to China, thus, we will receive profit as a transit country," S. Mynbayev said.

The gas main will also provide southern regions of Kazakhstan with up to 10 billion cubic meters of gas.

The gas main Kazakhstan - China represents the system consisting of two parallel pipelines in diameter of 1067 millimeters. Total extent of the pipeline is 1304.5 kilometers.

40 billion cubic meters of gas a year will be transported through the new gas main, 30 from which are intended for China and 10 - for the southern regions of Kazakhstan.
