Construction of Central Asian gas pipeline began

Construction of the Central Asian gas pipeline began on June 30 in Bukhara region of Uzbekistan, the agency reports referring to Russian.china.org.cn.

Almaty. July 4. Kazakhstan Today - Construction of the Central Asian gas pipeline began on June 30 in Bukhara region of Uzbekistan, the agency reports referring to Russian.china.org.cn.

According to Chinese oil-and-gas Corporation, this energy highway will be 1801 kilometers. Construction is being carried out by China, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan. China with Uzbekistan have already formed joint venture Asia TransGaz involved in designing and construction of the gas pipeline. Each of the parties possesses 50 % of shares.

The first part of the gas pipeline will be put into operation in December of 2009. After the end of construction the gas pipeline will be able to transport to China 30 billion cubic meters of gas a year.

The agreement on construction of this gas pipeline was signed in April of 2007 during the visit to Uzbekistan of the chairman of the State Committee on Development and Reform of the Peoples Republic of China Kay Ma.
