Almaty. January 12. Kazakhstan Today - Copper companies reduce production in conditions of crisis, the agency reports citing foreign mass media.

According to Dow Jones Newswires, the leading Zambian manufacturer of copper - Konkola Copper Mines PLc (KCM) plans to reduce working costs down to 35 % to survive in conditions of crisis. KCM has to stop the work of copper factory Nchanga that was put into operation in October, 2008, the capacity of which is 300 thousand tons of copper a year. It is planned to increase its capacity up to 500 thousand tons a year in 2010.
