Current operations account of balance of payments developed with deficit of $1 billion

According to the preliminary data for I quarter 2009, the current operations account of balance of payments has developed with deficit of more than $1 billion, the agency reports citing the National Bank of Kazakhstan.

Almaty. May 12. Kazakhstan Today - According to the preliminary data for I quarter 2009, the current operations account of balance of payments has developed with deficit of more than $1 billion, the agency reports citing the National Bank of Kazakhstan.

"For January - March, 2009 in comparison with the corresponding period of 2008 export of goods has been $8.2 billion, thus, according to customs statistics, export of oil and gas condensate has decreased by $5 billion and has reached about $4.6 billion," the National Bank informs.

According to the National Bank, as of I quarter of 2009, import of goods has decreased by 15.6 % in comparison with I quarter of 2008, having exceeded $6.1 billion. Import of total food stuffs reduced by 27.5 %, including import of food stuffs reduced by 17.0 % and non-food consumer goods - by 33.0 %. Import of goods of intermediate industrial consumption and investment goods decreased in comparison with I quarter of 2008 by 12.4 %.
