Astana. February 22. Kazakhstan Today - The Customs Union countries intensify WTO accession negotiations. Vice Minister of Industry and Commerce of Kazakhstan, Zhanar Aytzhanova, said, following the results of the governmental hour in Majilis, the agency reports.

"The WTO accession negotiations proceed. We will intensify them because the Customs Union and WTO membership are not contradicting purposes, but complementary. The interest of our trading partners has increased even more due to creation of the uniform customs territory. The negotiations on introduction will be conducted by the uniform negotiation organization headed by the Russian representative, Maxim Medvedkov," Z. Aytzhanova said.

She informed that now the consultations are being conducted in Geneva regarding the mechanism that will be chosen to continue these negotiations. "We think that the negotiations will be conducted by each country separately. The uniform negotiation group will solve the questions concerning the competence of the Customs Union, Z. Aytzhanova informed.

"As of today, we have two categories of important questions related to WTO accession. The first - the questions of economic policy (taxation, import of equipment for agricultural enterprises etc.). They are in the competence of the national negotiation group. The uniform negotiation delegation is working on the questions of customs-tariff policy and non-tariff measures, import and export of goods," she noted.
