Economy Ministry ascertains influence of economic crisis on Kazakhstan-German economic cooperation

The Ministry of Economy and Budgetary Planning of Kazakhstan ascertains the influence of the economic crisis on the Kazakhstan-German trade and economic cooperation. The head of the department, Bahyt Sultanov, informed at the third session of the Kazakhstan-German working group on Monday, the agency reports.

Astana. June 23. Kazakhstan Today - The Ministry of Economy and Budgetary Planning of Kazakhstan ascertains the influence of the economic crisis on the Kazakhstan-German trade and economic cooperation. The head of the department, Bahyt Sultanov, informed at the third session of the Kazakhstan-German working group on Monday, the agency reports.

"As of January - April of 2009, bilateral goods turnover between our countries has been $709 million and in comparison with the similar period of 2008 has decreased by almost 29 %. It means that the world economic crisis has affected Kazakhstan-German trade and economic cooperation," B. Sultanov informed.

"The work carried out by the joint working group will correct the current situation and will establish more positive tendencies in trade relations between our states."

According to the Economy Minister, "following the results of 2008, goods turnover between our countries has reached more than $3 billion.

"German companies have invested into Kazakhstan economy more than $3.5 billion. About 700 enterprises have been created with participation of the German capital in Kazakhstan," B. Sultanov informed.
