EIA raised its forecast of world demand for oil

The USA Energy Information Administration (EIA) forecasts falling of world demand for oil in 2009 by 1.56 million barrels per day to 83.85 million barrels a day that is by 0.17 million barrels per day more than the volume forecasted by EIA last month, July EIA report states, the agency reports citing an information-analytical portal Neft Rossii.

Kazakhstan Today - The USA Energy Information Administration (EIA) forecasts falling of world demand for oil in 2009 by 1.56 million barrels per day to 83.85 million barrels a day that is by 0.17 million barrels per day more than the volume forecasted by EIA last month, July EIA report states, the agency reports citing an information-analytical portal Neft Rossii.

"The world economic recession has led to reduction of demand for oil in the second half of 2008 and in the first half of 2009. Nevertheless, the level of falling demand in the end of this year will restrain in connection with gradual restoration of the economic situation," the report informs.

According to EIA forecasts, demand for oil in the countries of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) in 2009 will be reduced by 1.88 million barrels to 45.56 million barrels per day. In the non-OECD countries, demand for oil this year will reach 38.3 million barrels per day that is by 0.33 million barrels per day more than the demand level of the last year.
