Experts: Gold continues going down in price

Firstly, a seasonal decrease in the use of the metal around the globe influenced on the prices.
In 2018, gold has been gone in price by 3% and costs 1270 dollars per troy ounce, LS reports.

Lukicheva said that the main reason for the decrease of quotes was ongoing tightening of a monetary policy of the Federal reserve system of the USA with high rates. In addition, the prices were influenced by a seasonal decrease in the use of the metal.

As a rule, the 2nd quarter and half of the 3rd quarter are believed to be the lowest seasons for the gold market because of the fall in demand in all markets. By the end of August, purchases in India and China begin before the autumn festivals and holidays, in India a season of weddings starts in October-November, in China – in October. In Europe, the demand increases in fall-winter. So, a season index reflects the increase and decrease of the demand," said Oksana Lukicheva, analyst for commodity markets ‘Otkrytiye Broker’.

According to her, the market attempts to test the support level 1267-1245 dollars an ounce. It is expected that the prices will not decrease below this level. However, if it happens, then according to Lukicheva, the price will reach 1181-1121 dollars. After that the falling trend will resume.

If the 1267-1245-dollar levels remain, then by fall we will be able to return to the 1295-1309-dollar levels. And then to 1345 dollars per ounce. Once these levels are overcome, then the market will increase and 1392-1433-dollar levels will open. The increase to 1483 dollars is possible. In the next months, it is important to keep an eye on the dollar rate and notifications of the Fed/ECB, as well as on the price dynamics for oil," said Oksana Lukicheva.
