FAO allocated $21 million for rendering assistance to farmers in 48 countries of the world

Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations approved projects on rendering assistance to farmers in 48 countries of the world most suffered from sharp rise in prices for food stuffs and fuel. $21 million has been allocated for their financing, the agency reports referring to the UN News Center.

Almaty. July 10. Kazakhstan Today - Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations approved projects on rendering assistance to farmers in 48 countries of the world most suffered from sharp rise in prices for food stuffs and fuel. $21 million has been allocated for their financing, the agency reports referring to the UN News Center.

Armenia and Kyrgyzstan are in the list of 48 states.

Financing of projects will be carried out within the new FAO initiative, which has been directed at overcoming of food crisis in the world. It has already covered 54 states. During realization of FAO projects rural poor people and small farmers in these countries will be provided with seeds, fertilizers and other resources indispensable for development of farms. The main short-term objective of the projects - to provide success of the forthcoming sowing seasons.

FAO hopes that the new initiative in the long-term prospect will help the states to make enough foodstuffs to satisfy the needs of their population.
