German Development Bank loaned Tajikistan 25 million euro for reconstruction of Nurek Hydroelectric Power Station

The Ministry of Finance of Tajikistan and KfW Entwicklungsbank (German Development Bank) signed the contract on granting loan and financial grant for the sum of 25 million euro for realization of the project Rehabilitation/reconstruction 220 kB-distribution device of Nurek Hydroelectric Power Station, the press release of the bank states, the agency reports referring to news agency CA-News.

Kazakhstan Today - The Ministry of Finance of Tajikistan and KfW Entwicklungsbank (German Development Bank) signed the contract on granting loan and financial grant for the sum of 25 million euro for realization of the project Rehabilitation/reconstruction 220 kB-distribution device of Nurek Hydroelectric Power Station, the press release of the bank states, the agency reports referring to news agency CA-News.

The project provides for replacement of the existing open switching centers of hydroelectric power station for complete distribution device with gas-insulated isolation that occupies less territory.

According to the news agency, the project is scheduled to be carried out in two stages. Total cost of the first stage is 26.1 million euro. "

Nurek Hydroelectric Power Station with capacity of 3000 МВt - the largest power station of Tajikistan. Nurek Hydroelectric Power Station was commissioned in 1972. Mid-annual electric power production of the station makes about 11.2 billion kWh.

The Development Bank KfW finances investments into projects in developing countries and the countries with transition economies and services of advisers connected with realization of projects. The bank operates on behalf of the Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development of Germany. The Federal Republic Germany since 2002 has loaned Tajikistan within the limits of technical and financial cooperation more than 81.6 million euro.
