Grain production output to make 14-14.5 mln tones this year, Minister of Agriculture

Astana. April 10. Kazakhstan Today - It is planed to harvest 14-14.5 million tons of grain in Kazakhstan in 2006, informed the head of agricultural department the Ministry of Agriculture Arman Yevniyev on Friday.

“Grain harvest, I suppose, will be bigger than previous,” he added.

A. Yevniyev explained that this year readiness of agrarians for spring field works is much higher. “Together with moisture accumulating and other technologies, this will positively reflect on yield,” he considers.

“The tendency of latter years is such, that agrarians slowly move away from dependency on weather conditions by using modern technologies and observance of optimal terms”, A. Yevniev emphisized. Therefore stable increase in grain yield will be observed not only in current, but in the upcoming years as well, the head of the department considers.

18.5 million hectares will be allotted for spring crops in the republic this year.
