HIV infection case defendant pleaded guilty

Shymkent. March 2. Kazakhstan Today - Bakhytgul Serdanova, ex-chief accountant of the regional children's hospital of the South Kazakhstan oblast, one of 21 defendants, partially pleaded guilty of the incriminated crime at the judicial session on the case of mass HIV infection of children, the agency reports.

According to the investigation materials, B. Serdanova is charged with the theft of 11 million 987 thousand KZT. The defendant recognized that she together with the head physician and the cashier committed misappropriation, but disagreed with the overestimated amount stated by the investigation. At the same time, the defendant has not specified how much money has been stolen and who shared it.

According to B. Serdanova, during the investigation she slandered herself, having told, that she had taken all this money under pressure from the head physician Tazhmukan Toybekov.

93 HIV positive children and 13 mothers have been revealed in the South Kazakhstan oblast. According to the investigation materials, 64 children and five mothers were HIV infected in the regional children's hospital.

As it was informed earlier, since January 19 the judicial process on the criminal case on mass HIV infection of children has been taking place in Shymkent. 18 physicians out of 21 people are in the dock.
