In Kazakhstan basic pension to become the guaranteed minimum pension

"We are planning to conduct a complex of measures to formalize the employment, income of employees and self-employed, and encourage their participation in retirement savings through greater guarantees of a minimum pension. Astana. March 13. Kazakhstan Today - Kazakhstan basic pension will be transformed into the guaranteed minimum pension, Kazakhstan Today reports.

According to the press service of the Prime Minister, as part of expanding the coverage of the employed population in services funded pension system in the country it is provided the transformation of the basic pension into the guaranteed minimum pension.

"We are planning to conduct a complex of measures to formalize the employment, income of employees and self-employed, and encourage their participation in retirement savings through greater guarantees of a minimum pension. To this end transformation of the basic pension into the guaranteed minimum pension is provided," said on Tuesday the Minister of Labour and Social Protection, Serik Abdenov.

The head of the Ministry of Labor cited statistics of the pension system coverage among population. Thus, according to the Ministry, the total number of people employed as of January 1 this year is 8.5 million, of which - 5.7 million people are members of NPS.

In turn, the number of persons engaged in pension contributions 12 times a year is only 3.7 million people, and it is about 41% of the economically active population.

The Minister noted that the small number of participants in the funded pension system "is a serious problem and if you do not take timely action, these people will not have worthy pensions in joint or in the storage system, and they will join the ranks of socially vulnerable groups of the population."
