Iran forbade import of Kazakhstan grain

Almaty. May 13. Kazakhstan Today - Iran has forbidden import of the Kazakhstan grain, the information source Kazakh-Grain informed.

"Agricultural Department of Mazandaran Province (Iran), the environmental protection organisation, on May 4, 2010, by the decision №1471 forbade import of agricultural products from Kazakhstan due to impossibility of its customs clearing".

"According to the organization's decision, from now on, the agricultural products delivered from Kazakhstan will not be subject to customs clearing.

The copies of the documents have been directed to General Director of the port and navigation department of the Mazandaran Province and to the chief of quarantine service to be acquainted with them and accept the corresponding measures.

According to the National Company Kazakhstan temir zholy, there is no conventional import interdiction of Kazakhstan grain to Iran. According to the official data, Kazakhstan can export to Iran up to 2 million tons of grain. In 2009, Kazakhstan exported to Iran about 1 million tons of grain and about 200 thousand tons - from January until March, 2010.
