Iraq stopped import of oil to Turkey

Import of oil through the pipeline from the north of Iraq to Turkish port Ceyhan made 300 thousand barrels of oil last week and has completely stopped today, the agency reports referring to Neftegaz.ru.

Almaty. August 5. Kazakhstan Today - Import of oil through the pipeline from the north of Iraq to Turkish port Ceyhan made 300 thousand barrels of oil last week and has completely stopped today, the agency reports referring to Neftegaz.ru.

Import of oil from Iraq to Turkey has been regularly interrupted before for various reasons - Turkey could not provide necessary goods within the limits of the program Oil in exchange for foodstuffs. Ankara promised to impose sanctions against Iraq if it does not take measures in regards to Kurdish separatists in the north of the country.

According to Neftegaz.ru, it is not excluded that the reason of discontinuance of oil import were the actions of the Turkish authorities, which has moved further on the territory of Northern Kurdistan, trying to crush the insurgents. Kurdish insurgents may have cut off oil deliveries, having organized pipeline sabotage.
