Kazakhstan and OECD to cooperate in sphere of diversification and competitiveness of economy - Economics Ministry of Kazakhstan

Kazakhstan and the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) plan to cooperate in the sphere of economy diversification and competitiveness of Kazakhstan, the agency reports referring to the press service of the Ministry of Economics and Budgetary Planning of Kazakhstan.

Astana. November 7. Kazakhstan Today - Kazakhstan and the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) plan to cooperate in the sphere of economy diversification and competitiveness of Kazakhstan, the agency reports referring to the press service of the Ministry of Economics and Budgetary Planning of Kazakhstan.

According to the press service, the Kazakhstan delegation headed by the Minister of Economics and Budgetary Planning of Kazakhstan, Bakhyt Sultanov, took part in the international conferences Investments and Competitiveness in Central Asia and Germany and Central Asia: Opportunities for Economic Cooperation on November 4 - 6, 2008 in Berlin. The event was organized under the aegis of OECD and OSCE.

According to the press service, the draft agreement on joint cooperation between Kazakhstan and OECD on realization of the project - strengthening of the economy diversification and competitiveness is now being studied.

"The Kazakhstan government plans to allocate for realization of the project 1.8 million euro in 2009," the press release of the Ministry of Economics states.

The Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) - the international intergovernmental economic organization that was created in 1948 under the name of Organization for European Economic Cooperation for coordination of projects of economic reconstruction of Europe within the limits of Marshall Plan.

Today OECD includes 30 states, the majority of the EU member states. About 60 % of world GDP accounts for OECD. The organization carries out extensive analytical work, develops recommendations for its member countries, and serves as a platform for organization of multilateral negotiations on economic issues.
