Kazakhstan gold currency reserves grew by 3.3 %

Almaty. August 17. Kazakhstan Today - The international reserves of Kazakhstan in the current prices, including money of the National Fund (according to preliminary data $10 699.5 million), have grown in the first half of August, 2006 by 3.3 % and have made $24 904.8 million, the National Bank of Kazakhstan press service informed the agency.

Net international reserves of the National Bank have grown by 2.2 % (or by $300.6 million). Purchase of currency in the internal currency market and income of currency onto the government accounts, even in conditions of updating actives operations of the national Fund and the servicing of external debt of the Ministry of Finance have led to the increase in net foreign currency reserves (hard currency) by $317.9 million. Actives in gold have decreased by $17.3 million as a result of its price decrease in the world markets by 1.4 %.

In real terms, net international reserves of the National Bank have grown by 2.3 %, net actives in hard currency - by 2.5 %, actives in gold have not changed.

According to the press service, growth of net international reserves of the Central Bank in the first half of August, 2006 resulted in expansion of monetary base by 2.7 % (or by 31.3 billion KZT).
