Kazakhstan, Russia to join WTO on coordinated basis

According to V. Putin, "both Russia and Kazakhstan are at the advanced stage of WTO accession." "Joining WTO in such format will be easier," V. Putin said, meaning bilateral format of Russia and Kazakhstan.

"This is not the reason not to develop integration on a tripartite basis," he noted.

"As soon as Belarus completes and coordinates all internal procedures and signs the documents, we will join WTO on a tripartite basis.

According to RIA RosBusinessConsulting (RBC), the session of the supreme body of the Customs Union, which took place on Friday in St. Petersburg, passed without Belarus representatives. However, according to V. Putin, Belarus is ready to continue work on preparation for coming into force of the Customs Code of the Customs Union. According to the Russian Prime Minister, his Belarus counterpart, Sergey Sidorsky, confirmed this position during a telephone conversation.

First Vice Premier of the Russian Federation, Igor Shuvalov, at the meeting with journalists in St. Petersburg, informed that Russia will define WTO accession format after overcoming some disagreements with the European Union and the USA.
