Kazakhstan second-tier banks capable of fulfilling external loans obligations in 2009

"The size of the debt is less than it is this year. It is still significant and is unevenly distributed throughout the year. The peak of payments will be in the first half-year. I think the banks will be able to make all the payments next year as well, as they were able to do so during the last two years," he emphasized.

The chairman of the National Bank has specified that Kazakhstan second-tier banks will have to pay $12 billion this year. "Volume of payments in 2009 - USD 10 billion 600 million," A. Saydenov explained.

"As of September, 2008, all our banks owe $41 billion," he reminded.
