Kazakhstan State Secretary, US Department of State for Energy Diplomacy in Eurasia coordinator discussed prospects of cooperation in oil and gas extraction and transportation

Kazakhstan Today - Kazakhstan State Secretary Kanat Saudabayev met the US State Department coordinator for Energy Diplomacy in Eurasia Stephen Mann on Saturday in Astana, the agency reports referring to the president's press service. According to the press service, during the meeting the parties discussed the condition and prospects of development of cooperation of Kazakhstan and the USA in the sphere of extraction and transportation of oil and gas.

"The parties noted importance of the recent resolution of the issue of further development of Kashagan deposit that will allow providing effective realization of the plan of its development and beginning its industrial oil production by 2011.

"The President Nursultan Nazarbayev attaches great value to expansion of the system of multiple export pipelines for Kazakhstan hydrocarbons for successful development of energy sphere as well as the national economy.

We plan to continue active cooperation and dialogue with the USA on expansion of volume of export of our energy carriers to the world markets," K. Saudabayev stated.

According to the press service, prospects of expansion of Caspian Pipeline Consortium, participation of Kazakhstan in the project of Burgas - Aleksandrupolis pipeline, creation of the Kazakhstan Caspian transportation system and development of alternative projects of transportation of hydrocarbons were discussed at the meeting.
