Kazakhstan to harvest 15 million tons of grain in 2012

Every year is different. No-till farming redeems the position. Herbicides, if desired. We are starting to build a plant - we'll have our own glyphosate.

Kostanay. August 15. Kazakhstan Today - Kazakhstan will collect 15 million tons of grain in 2012, Kazakhstan Today reports.

"Every year is different. No-till farming redeems the position. Herbicides, if desired. We are starting to build a plant - we'll have our own glyphosate", President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev said at a meeting with farmers during his visit to Kostanay region, noting that crop losses were seriously compensated by introduction of new technologies, as well as by a record harvest last year.

"Of course, in comparison to last year when there was 8.7 million in the (Kostanay) region. This year we will have about 3 million, maybe more. Kazakhstan's overall harvest will be about 15 million tons. Taking into account the last year's record harvest, still the export potential for the country will be 9 ... So last year will balance this year. So this year's drought is overcome somehow", the president said.

During the visit, the President visited the farmland and observed harvesting in LLP "Sheminovka" in Kostanay region.

Nazarbayev also visited the production site of LLP "SaryarkaAvtoProm". The visit will be concluded by the attendance of the regional Kazakh Drama Theater named after Ilyas Omarov.
