Kazakhstan to join top 40 countries in terms of logistics performance index

"Taking into consideration the target value of the Logistics Performance Index of the World Bank, we set a goal to reach the 40th place among 155 countries by 2020. In order to reach this goal, we must climb up from the 86th to 50th place of the rating by 2015".

Almaty. January 10. Kazakhstan Today - "Kazakhstan TemirZholy" national company set a goal to join the world top 40 countries of the World Bank's Logistics Performance Index survey by 2020, head of the company Askar Mamin said at the session focused on the results of the railway sector performance for 2012 and the main goals for 2013 today.

"Taking into consideration the target value of the Logistics Performance Index of the World Bank, we set a goal to reach the 40th place among 155 countries by 2020. In order to reach this goal, we must climb up from the 86th to 50th place of the rating by 2015," A. Mamin said, according to the Prime Minister's official website.

He also informed that an investment program worth 410 billion tenge on renovation of 126 locomotives, 4172 wagons, 250 passenger cars and capital repair of 726 km of railways and construction of new railways would be implemented this year. Besides, the production output of the engineering sector is planned to be increased to 250 billion tenge in 2013.
