Almaty. October 23. Kazakhstan Today - Kazakhstan intends to participate in the Burgas-Alexandroupolis oil pipeline project. The President of Russia's Transneft, Nikolay Tokarev, informed journalists, the agency reports citing ITAR-TASS.

He said that a new participant of the project will be able to receive a share at the expense of the Russian shareholders. At the same time, as he said, Kazakhstan's possible purchase of a share due to a reduction of the Bulgarian or Greek shares is being discussed.

The Burgas-Alexandroupolis oil pipe system will allow transporting oil bypassing passages Bosporuss and Dardanelless to the markets of Southern and Western Europe. The initial capacity of the oil pipeline will be 35 million tons a year with the subsequent increase up to 50 million tons.
