Almaty. August 29. Kazakhstan Today - Kazakhstan is ready to quit the Central Asian power grid in case an agreement on parallel functioning of energy systems is not signed before 2013, Kazakhstan Today reports.

"The document on parallel functioning is supposed to be signed in Almaty before the autumn. The intensive talks are held, there are 7 unresolved issues, including transit. The combined heat and power plants needs at least 300 MW. Rationing will be required," Utility Products Magazine quotes Alexey Borodin, Deputy Director of the National Electric Grid of Kyrgyzstan, who spoke on the government meeting on Monday.

Representatives of Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and Kazakhstan will discuss parallel functioning issues at the meeting on September 21-22 in Astana. Kazakhstan announced earlier about its possible withdrawal from the Central Asian power grid in case Uzbekistan continues unsanctioned outtake of power. Kazakhstan said Kyrgyzstan will be affected in this case and will have to ration electricity for 40%.
