Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan refused to sign Nabucco political declaration

Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan have refused to sign the political declaration prepared for the opened on Friday in Prague summit 'Southern Corridor - New Silk Way', the agency reports citing Russian state broadcasting company Voice of Russia.

Almaty. May 12. Kazakhstan Today - Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan have refused to sign the political declaration prepared for the opened on Friday in Prague summit 'Southern Corridor - New Silk Way', the agency reports citing Russian state broadcasting company Voice of Russia.

The project of the declaration states that the participating in the project of Nabucco pipeline parties, including the EU countries, Turkey and former Central Asian USSR Republics will do everything to prepare the intergovernmental Nabucco agreement to be signed till June, 2009."

Nabucco project provides annual transportation of 20 - 30 billion of cubic meters of natural gas from the Central Asia region and Azerbaijan bypassing Russia along the route Turkey - Bulgaria - Romania - Hungary - Austria. Construction of the gas pipeline is expected to be completed till 2013 and gas deliveries will begin in 2014.

Potential suppliers of gas for Nabucco pipeline are Azerbaijan, Iran, Turkmenistan and recently Iraq. As of now, the Presidents of Azerbaijan, Georgia and Turkey, and the representatives of Egypt and EU signed the declaration supporting creation of energy-transport system 'Southern Corridor' and, in particular, gas pipeline Nabucco.
