Kazatomprom boosts uranium production up to 30 thousand tons a year

Astana. September 6. Kazakhstan Today - Kazakhstan boosts uranium extraction up to 30 thousand tons a year. Vice President of Kazatomprom Askar Kasabekov informed today during I Eurasian energy forum Oil and Gas Branch and Energy, the agency reports.

"Uranium is planned to be extracted of up to 17 thousand tons a year, after 2020 - of up to 20 thousand tons. Kazakhstan is able to extract uranium of up to 30 thousand tons a year by 2010," A. Kasabekov noted. "We plan to increase volumes of extraction and occupy the first place in the world on uranium extraction," he emphasized.

According to A. Kasabekov, world need of natural uranium totals 35-37 thousand tons a year.
