KMG receives 100% stake in the company owning 10% of the Karachaganak project

Kazakhstan Today - JSC "NC "KazMunaiGas" (KMG) received a 100% stake in LLC "Company on Managing shares in the final production sharing agreement"(KUDOSRP), which owns 10% of the consortium Karachaganak Petroleum Operating (KPO, developing Karachaganak field in the West Kazakhstan oblast), Kazakhstan Today reports.

"Earlier it was reported that the contracting companies of the Karachaganak field (BG Group, Eni, Chevron, Lukoil) gave 10% of the consortium Karachaganak Petroleum Operating in favor of the Republic of Kazakhstan according to the" suspensive conditions of the "signed December 14, 2011 Settlement Agreement", the press service of the KMG reminded.

The Republic of Kazakhstan, in its turn, gave 10% of the consortium Karachaganak Petroleum Operating Company to the newly created LLC "Company on Managing shares in the final production sharing agreement", which in its turn was transferred to JSC "NC "KazMunaiGas" as a national oil and gas operator.

As a result the shares in the Karachaganak consortium were distributed as follows: BG Group - 29,25% (previously 32,5%), Eni - 29,25% (32,5%, respectively), Chevron - 18% (20%), Lukoil - 13.5% (15%), KMG - 10%. Thus, JSC "NC "KazMunaiGas" will participate in the consortium Karachaganak Petroleum Operating, and will represent the interests of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the further development of the deposit.

International consortium Karachaganak KPO is developing Karachaganak according to the PSA signed in 1997 and acting for 40 years. Karachaganak field is one of the largest in the world with oil reserves of 1.2 billion tons and natural gas reserves of 1.35 trillion cubic meters.

JSC "National Company" KazMunaiGas" is Kazakhstan's national operator for exploration, production, processing and transportation of hydrocarbons. 100% shares of JSC "NC" KazMunaiGas" belong to JSC "National Welfare Fund "Samruk-Kazyna".
