Main theme of 18 plenary session of Council of foreign investors is environment protection

The issues of steady development and the environment protection will be discussed at the 18th plenary session of the Council of foreign investors at the President of Kazakhstan that will take place on December 7, 2007 in Astana with participation of the leader of the state, the press service of the Ministry of Environment Protection informed the agency on Friday.

Kazakhstan Today - The issues of steady development and the environment protection will be discussed at the 18th plenary session of the Council of foreign investors at the President of Kazakhstan that will take place on December 7, 2007 in Astana with participation of the leader of the state, the press service of the Ministry of Environment Protection informed the agency on Friday.

According to the press service, the round table devoted to preparation for the plenary council meeting of foreign investors took place on Thursday. "The objective of the round table was development of the common position in key directions, which will be brought up at the plenary session," the widespread press release states.

The representatives of the largest world companies operating in Kazakhstan took part in the event: BG Group, Chevron Corporation, ABN AMRO Bank, the European Bank of Development and Reconstruction, ENI, Ernst & Young, ENRC, Arcelor Mittal, Eccson Mobile, Lukoil Overseas, Mitsubishi International Corporation, Conoco Philips, Halliburton, Shell and others, as well as the state bodies of the Republic.

The Ministry submitted for consideration to the Council of foreign investors seven specific proposals, including - creation of the independent working group of the Council for ecology and steady development, initiation of radical reform of the existing ecological-economic mechanisms, carrying out of independent ecological audit in the disputable situations, Kazakhstan joining of the international initiatives for accounting and reporting in the questions of stable development and social corporate responsibility.
