Manufacturing output grows in Kazakhstan

The output in the light industry increased by 11.8% to 20,666 million tenge and mechanical engineering by 18.4% reaching 282 billion tenge, Caspionet writes.

Almaty. August 29. Kazakhstan Today - The output of high-technology products in the metallurgical sector increased to 21,310,9 thousand tonnes from 20,747,9, Kazakhstan Today reports.

According to Kazakhstan's Ministry of Industry and New Technologies, the output in the light industry increased by 11.8% to 20,666 million tenge and mechanical engineering by 18.4% reaching 282 billion tenge, Caspionet writes.

The manufacturing sector has grown in Kazakhstan, the press service of the Ministry of Industry and New Technologies reported. Thus, output increased by 2.1% in the first six months of the year mainly due to food and beverages, products of light and chemical industries, mechanical engineering and petroleum derivatives. Apart from that, labour productivity in the manufacturing sector totaled 20.3 thousand US dollars per person during January-May this year, which adds up to a 6.4% increase compared to the same period in 2011.
