May gold and exchange currency reserves of Kazakhstan increased by 1.4 %

International reserves of the country in current prices, including money of the National fund (by preliminary data $23 680.7 million), have increased by 1.4 % and have made $44 653.7 million, the agency reports referring to the message of the National Bank of the Republic.

Almaty. May 20. Kazakhstan Today - International reserves of the country in current prices, including money of the National fund (by preliminary data $23 680.7 million), have increased by 1.4 % and have made $44 653.7 million, the agency reports referring to the message of the National Bank of the Republic.

Increase in net international reserves of the National Bank in the first half of May, 2008 has caused expansion of monetary base by 9.4 % (or by 144.4 billion KZT).

Net international reserves of the National Bank in current prices have grown by 1.2 % (or by $244.3 million).

Purchase of currency in internal currency market and income of currency in the government accounts in the National Bank have been partially neutralized by operations on service of external government debt, as well as reduction of the rests on correspondent accounts of the second-tier banks in foreign currency in the National Bank.

As a result, net foreign currency reserves (hard currency) have grown by $237.3 million, assets in gold have grown by $7.0 million, as a result of operations and decrease of its price in the world markets by 0.5 %.
