National Bank introduced in Parliament bill on issue of e-cash

The National Bank of Kazakhstan has introduced in Parliament the bill on the amendments and additions to some acts concerning e-cash, allowing issuing e-cash in tenge, the agency reports.

Astana. February 2. Kazakhstan Today - The National Bank of Kazakhstan has introduced in Parliament the bill on the amendments and additions to some acts concerning e-cash, allowing issuing e-cash in tenge, the agency reports.

"During presentation of the bill in Majilis of Parliament of Kazakhstan, Vice President of the National Bank, Batyrbek Alzhanov, said, "The purpose of development of this bill is creation of the legal basis for issue and use of e-cash in Kazakhstan."

Explaining the necessity of acceptance of the bill, he noted that "circulation in the Republic of e-cash are denominated in currency of other countries, including - in dollars and rubles. There is no legal base so that the Kazakhstan banks will be able to issue e-cash in tenge."

According to the National Bank, any commercial bank of Kazakhstan can be an emitter of e-cash in tenge. The bill also provides introduction of some additions to the laws on Payments and Remittances, on Banks and Banking Activity and on National Bank, and in Tax and Administrative Codes.
