Northern Kazakhstan and Almaty oblasts signed agreement on food grain purchase

Northern Kazakhstan and Almaty oblasts signed the agreement on 155 thousand tons of food grain purchase in Petropavlovsk, the agency reports referring to the press service of oblast akim.

Petropavlovsk. July 25. Kazakhstan Today - Northern Kazakhstan and Almaty oblasts signed the agreement on 155 thousand tons of food grain purchase in Petropavlovsk, the agency reports referring to the press service of oblast akim.

Akim of the Northern Kazakhstan oblast, Serik Bilyalov, emphasized at the meeting with delegation of Almaty oblast headed by the assistant akim, Tynyshbay Dosymbekov, that "the northern part of the Republic is the main grain producing region of Kazakhstan, which has received record harvest of grain the third year in a row.

"This year, due to development and use of fallow lands, the area of sown grain totals 3.7 million hectares that is by 400 thousand hectares more than last year. Olive crops have made 114 thousand hectares," S. Bilyalov informed.

"Grain and flour - the main goods of inter-regional commerce of our oblast. In 2007 we exported 2.4 million tons of grain to 35 countries of near and far abroad.

T. Dosymbekov noted that cooperation between the oblasts will be continued, the press service informed.
